Brandon,

The hard disk is working out great.  And you were right it is fast!

I have not upgraded the system drive yet.  I am having a strange occurrence
and I am not sure it is just the way the Synclavier is.

When I hold down 8 or more notes, I hear a hissy static (even for voices
with 1 partial).  What should I expect when I run out of voices?  This
static?

When you run out of voices, there should be no change in sound quality.  Note
decays could be cut off, but no static.  If you are dealing with FM voices, they
are noisy.  The more you play, the more noise you will hear.

I have checked each voice and they all seem fine.  I have changed outputs
but still the same.

If you performed a sound card check as outlined in "Sync Tips and Tricks"
make sure all your cards are seated properly and all cables are in place.
Sometimes a cable looks like it is seated tightly into a card.  The retaining
clips also make it look like the cable is snug but there have been some
manufacturing differences between connectors and your eyes can deceive you.
Use your fingers and push them in.  *unplug the machine and let it
discharge!!!*

I am still trying to figure out what is happening with my system.

Seems like every time I press a key down, when I release I hear a snap.  Is
this the way it should sound.

If I hold down a loop it plays fine, when I release, I hear a snap?? We have
the 3200 voice cards that can be converted to pannable voices. Happens
regardless of what output, voice numbers or notes held down.  I am going to
check the headphone outs to see if it happens there too.  In the end we will
probably have Brian fly down here for repairs.

On the newer systems with DDV voices, a small amount of "snap" is normal.
On the older systems with PSV cards, the systems are a little noisier so the
sound decays into noise.  There are adjustments to the cards to reduce
the amount of "snap"; you may need this.  Also, make sure you set your
"Final Decay" to about 200ms.  Otherwise, when you release a key on the
V/P Keyboard, the sound will cut off *very* quickly.

Thanks

Good luck.
