They can hum if they are not secured tightly. I have been told
that dust
can get into the "windings" of the transformer and cause audible noise.
My
Synclavier II's power supply "sings" when I play back FM sequences.
The
output voltage is fine, however. You may need to swap power supplies.
Since the SCSI connector for the keyboard cable (to
>tower) is right on top of the supply, do you think this high freq.

That used to happen on my Synclavier II also (when it was a stand-alone).
When it was rebuilt as a slave the noise went away. However,
I can hear
that kind of noise in my CLICK OUTPUT in my 3200 (w/Keyboard Interface).
Although, this is a VERY low qualtiy output, I don't really care (the
schematic proves it). You are somehow getting "computer noise"
in your
audio. Bad connections, grounds, etc. would be the first culprit.
You
might have a component "going" that is allowing the noise to "leak"
into
your audio. The DDV voice cards should be VERY clean. With
all the
problems you have, you might need a complete re-cabling.
