Good morning.
So you might want to buy a Synclavier? And my page didn't
give you
engough information?! Good golly. I thought I typed it
all :-)
I would divide it up like this:
1) Will I rely on the system for professional composition or
an adjunct
to my MIDI studio or will it be a museum piece?
2) Do I need sampling, synthesis or both?
3) Do I want a Direct to Disk system? Do I want it to operate
by
itself or "hang off" the Synclavier?
4) How many voices/RAM can I afford?
5) Am I willing to dedicate a sizable amount of time to learn
something
that could be very frustrating but HIGHLY rewarding?
6) How much MIDI to I need?
7) Do I want a Model D processor or do I want to spend the wad
and
convert everything to run on a PowerPC Mac?
8) Do I have enough power, air conditioning and space for a large
tower?
Of the top of my head, this is a GOOD start. Sit
down and examine
what eactly you want to do. Write it down, then email me back.
Unless
you are adaptable, the Synclavier might not be a realistic step.
There
is a lot of "bending" involved. And on top of that, the system
grows
depending on the way you use it. It is a very powerful tool that
might
bring joy to your heart or make you crazy! (It does both to me).
Hope this helps.
