Synclavier Site Newsletter #10 Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 14:47:53 +0000 Good day to all of you! The first issue of _SynclavierUnderground_ has been completed and it looks terrific! All who have ordered this free magazine should be checking your mailboxes next week. Don't know what _SynclavierUnderground_ is? It is a magazine published by Yaking Cat Music Studios that covers everything from music sub-culture to professional industry related news. Not to mention a healthy dose of Synclavier user tips, music reviews and humor. Nothing is being held back. And we have contributors who take time out of their professional schedules to get things off their chests (it is about time...) I'm truly excited that most subscribers are overseas(!). However, as much as I LOVE paper, the shipping costs might be too prohibitive for me. What would you think if all American/Canadian subscribers actually received a mailing and everyone overseas received a .pdf format (Adobe Acrobat compatible)? That way you can print it out yourself pretty much exactly the way we see it over here (fonts not withstanding). Adobe Acrobat is a nifty way most manufacturers have been publishing their user manuals. It is a great attempt for a universal publishing format. Please let me know. If you have wanted to subscribe but are afraid to have your mail box cluttered (all you reclusive superstar types), you can receive the issue via email. Remember, all names are held in confidence. We welcome user submissions and comments.

Although this site has remained free, I have reached capacity on my Personal Web Space with Earthlink (6 meg) and have found that to keep giving you all this information, I need to upgrade my site. The cost to upgrade my site to handle a larger volume of disk space and traffic is about $1000. Also, several hours a day are required to maintain the site and program all the new pages So here is my plan: I want to form a Member's Only section called "Club NED" (just like the old days). At $5 a month (payable yearly), you would have access to VERY specialized information such as service bulletins, internal cable routing diagrams, private newsletters, etc. The "Tips and Tricks" section would still be remain as public access. Most Emails would be answered Gratis unless they were requesting serious technical information. I can answer technical questions by phone, day or night, for a flat $40 service charge. I can also Fax information to those without instant Internet access. If you need a Synclavier assistant or "Ghost", that is also available. There is also the possibility of me OFFICIALLY selling various Synclavier libraries INCLUDING BRAND NEW ONES THAT NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD!!! I need to know how many people are interested. This service would involve a lot more money and effort from both myself and the sound developers. These are already recorded, private collections. As you have noticed, all questions are answered very quickly and updates to my site happen on a daily basis. PLEASE EMAIL ME BACK AND LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS THE KIND OF SERVICE YOU APPRECIATE. TELL YOUR OTHER SYNCLAVIER FRIENDS. The fees would be as follows: $15.00 per technical bulletin. $5.00 per month (paid yearly) for Member's Only access. $40 for 24 hour technical help. Etc. There are a maximum of 300 Synclavier users around the world. That is a lot of users to support for free. I already have about 75 names on my mailing list alone! I appreciate your support. Thank you. THE source of Synclavier information ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Free Synclavier User Profiles Right now on my Synclavier web site is a page dedicated to user profiles. Indiviuals and companies can submit a *brief* biography about what they are doing with their Synclavier/PostPro/DtoD. It can be your own personal album, a television series, or some cool room you built around your 9600. This is *FREE*. It is for all to see. I get "hits" from users in Germany, Australia, Switzerland and all over the U.S. If you have your own "site" or "page" include that address as well; I will put a link in for you. Or your Email... Many of the Synclavier users are distinguished composers, songwriters and facility owners. Some are just musicians with a deep love for the Synclavier. Whatever the case, no one will be turned down. All I ask is that you might consider putting in a link to my site. If you don't want to that's o.k. No pressure. Nice idea, eh? Also, if you have any stories, ideas or suggestions please Email them to me. I will be more than happy to build a new page to "house" them. I read and reply to ALL my Email. If you are looking for a long lost "Syncla-brother", Email me. I will contact that person and ask if they wish to have their Email address sent to you. Have a great day! Brandon Amison
THE source of Synclavier information ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Re: Synclavier Site (Improved!) I just wanted to drop everyone a line and say "Thank you". I have had lots of kind words and support. As you probably have noticed, the site constantly keeps getting modified. There have been numerous requests and suggestions. As a result, I have just finished a new "streamlined" site. It loads *MUCH* faster and is better organized. If you were logging on while the site was being worked on, my apologies. Most of the site was programmed BY HAND. The only way I could see the results was to upload the site and browse it myself. I now have a basic format that will make everyone's lives easier. If you feel you are getting "spammed" by me, just reply to this
message and type "remove" in the subject box.
